Time out...

Garden, livestock, pets, wildcrafting - a little housekeeping when it becomes imperative to find the floor again - what a busy week we have had! The punks are on vacation, but the farm is still active and producing.

Kimberly's sister has joined her for a few days. With an extra hand available, I figured it was a good time to get the strawberries done for the season. So we picked about 35 pounds, and prepared to put them in the freezer as jam.
But first we took a quick trip to Tahiti. The photo doesn't do justice to the tropical greens and turquoise of the water, the balmy air, the warm sand. A light breeze dried the sweat from our morning of work. Paige did a happy dance for the break from slave labor.
Oh-oh. Well, yeah, that's not a palm tree. But it sure FELT like Tahiti!
After a cooling swim, we sat and soaked up some sun, reading, listening to the swoosh of waves caressing the sand - just kicking back, taking a break from the farm work.

It's been a loooong time since I just sat and did nothing on a beach.
We decided it should become part of our daily routine. A couple hours on the soft sand, listening to the water, and gulls calling, just not thinking about much at all...
We all need a time out from our busy busy daily lists.
Call it a mental health break. Call it goofing off. Call it what you want. Just do it.
