I had called Carrie earlier in the day:
10:30 a.m.
mom: "Hi! Well, are we in the same time zone yet?"
Carrie: "Heck, we're in the same STATE now! We just got to Madison - figure we're about 3 hours from home. If we don't make any more stops..."
mom: "Wow! I better get some lunch cookin'!"
1:30 p.m. They are climbing out the doors and window, happy to be home!
We had just made a welcome home sign for the family, including one that said "Collin: your chickens are DYING to see you!!" Not even a half-hour before he got home, one of the hens had died from an egg complication. Kim was in shock - how could they do this to her? She had a perfect record for no animal problems - until then.
Brent: "Where the heck did everyone go??? We still have to unload. Than? Col? Max?...."
They eventually all reappeared, grabbed their gear from the car, had a bite of lunch, and then they all went to bed for a well-deserved nap.
Straight-through trips to Utah and back are only for the young - and rest-less.
