And that's the end of his love story.
Here's what happened: It was a very hot day in June. Chef J was worn out with working in the garden. He was looking for a way to cool off.
"Gwamma, I think I should have one of those Icicle radishes. That should cool me off, don't you think?"
"Well, Jayden, they are nice and juicy. That might work..."
He pulled a huge white Icicle radish, rinsed it carefully in the hose, and found a nice place to sit down in the grass. He took a big crunchy bite. He chewed it. Then he stopped chewing. He looked very thoughtful.
And sat looking sadly at the remainder of the radish.
"Gwamma. It's kinda spicy."
"Yes, Jayden, I was afraid of that. When the weather gets hot, so do the radishes."
"Well, that's not a very good name for this radish, then."
"You're right. It's very misleading."
"Do I have to eat the rest of it?"
"No, that's OK. Put it in the pig bucket. They like spicy."
Which is why Stew tried to pull off the Great Escape. He was looking for some more of those spicy Icicles.
