There's always a solution

Early in the garden-under-construction phase, we needed some poles. Our new neighbor had offered some of the smallish trees he had cut off the right-of-way, we just needed to haul them. With the 'burb and trailer in mind, the punks and I went over to check out the situation, since the poles were stacked in a low wet spot. We couldn't resist attempting an alternative way to get some poles back to the garden so we could get on with our project - pea supports were high on the list, since the baby peas were already sprouted.

Between us, we came up with this totally illegal log hauler. If you take a good look, that IS a pole sticking out the back window. (Carrie tackles the pumpkin patch with the rototiller in the background - she was happily oblivious to our impatience...)
The windows were padded with coats. Good thinking, guys!
It's a very small car. The pole stuck out both windows. There were also three punks in the back seat...

Than took charge of unloading. Collin only lost a small bit of skin off his hand and cheek, honest.
Of course Happy was supervising, which made everything go smoothly.

The grassy lane on the other side of the fence line sloped down to the pole pile. Perfect! All Carrie had to do was back in about 120 feet. She's good at backing. Even downhill. It didn't take long to get the 'burb and trailer in position, and all hands went to work packing poles.

The hardworking punks were grateful that mom was so talented. Toting 20-some poles one at a time in the car was a stretch, even for this intrepid gang.
Collin was especially happy, he couldn't afford to lose any more skin...
