It is a truism: as boys get older, their toys just get bigger.
The birthday party for Lee at Bay Beach is a perfect case in point. The humongo slide was the proving ground.
Uncle Pat was first one up the long flight of stairs, with the punks in hot pursuit.

The tickets at Bay Beach are 25 cents, and each ride requires only one or two tickets. A wonderful place for families to gather for a picnic and inexpensive fun. When Pat read the "1 ticket" requirement for the slide, he was in heaven - and promptly set about spending his alloted 20 tickets to prove he could get all the way to the finish line at the bottom.

As he worked his way across the lanes, looking for the "just right" combo of slick lane and arm thrust off the bumps, the fun factor just kept getting bigger...

This about ticket number 9 - you can see how serious having fun is...

And here's the number 11 - the winner! Clear to the carpet landing piece at the bottom. Success makes fun even better!

Never to be outdone - Max enlisted Daddy. The pursuit of fun starts early for boys - and it seems they never outgrow it.

Regarding girls: with age comes wisdom.
You won't catch me OR Mommy on that thing...OUR tickets are better spent on the "Miracle Round" (that's a Max-ism for merry-go-round; say it fast, and you'll get it...).
