Splish Splash

While on the Go Cart track, the drivers were forbidden to deliberately run into each other - but the Bumper Boats were another story! The whole object was to ram anyone you could get close to, and getting wet was a bonus!

Nothing like an amusement park for some parent-punk bonding...

Waiting for the tender to arrive (the guys were drawing straws to see who got the duty, the kid who won had a huge smile the whole time we were there - it was a warm day), the drivers scoped out the scene, picking out likely boats.
NOTE: when the punks as a group are going to be in a crowd, they get to wear matching shirts - makes it easier to spot them...

Yes, E., it's different from the Go Cart - you'll get the hang of it.

Chef J was thrilled to bits when he measured just tall enough to drive by himself - his very first time! His grin told it all - one of the big boys now! He was also first out of the dock, which was good for everyone else while he practiced - it's not quite as easy as it appears.

E. demonstrates the "bash'em" technique. Her boat was a little lower in front, which helped her generate a nice bow wave - which she quickly took advantage of to dowse the punks. Be afraid Max, very afraid...

E.'s boat was also faster than most of the rest. Pat had the by far pokiest boat, which made him the perfect target for the whole pond full of gleeful navigators.

The spare punk in the red shirt is one of Lee's good friends, who came all the way from western Wisconsin to spend the weekend with his buddy - Lee's special birthday request.

"Tweet!" The whistle signaled the end of splishing and splashing, ramming and scramming. What a great activity, and they had it all to themselves. The advantage of going to Bay Beach really early in the morning is the lack of crowds. By 1 pm., it was a different story.

Uncle Pat took over herding the punks to the next activity. He usually doesn't hang out with more than two kids at a time, so this was very good for him...

Across the street was the rest of the story...
