Knitwit

You're right. These are NOT SOCKS. They are felted clogs. The reason I know this is, I'm making them. Well, a reasonable facsimile. I'm using purple wool. Purple is a power color. I need all the power I can get right now.
I missed the message this afternoon that the sock class had to be postponed a week. I showed up, all 8" of sock laboriously knitted, ready to start the heel. It was a real let-down, after being entirely focused on those socks every spare moment for the past six days.
But what was this? A different class was getting ready to start. Felted Clogs! I had been interested in the clogs when I saw the fall class list, but had decided the socks were probably all I could mentally handle. Bonnie assured me I could HANDLE the clogs. I tried one on. I was hooked.
So I spent the evening learning to "make one", and "wrap and turn", and "short row knitting". I have one sole almost done. Each clog requires two soles. Then we get to put the tops on. Then they get felted, and since it's done wet our clogs will be personalized to our very own feet.

The idea of personalized cozy wool footwear definately overrides the "AM I NUTS??!!" factor.

Well, a little gentler mode of request might be in order. I would dearly love the pattern for the clogs since that is all I wear and I pay dearly for mine which come from a Birkenstock store. Besides, I could make them and use my orthotics inside of them. At your leisure my dear, could you send me a pattern. Thanks dahling...
