It's shoveling weather - or if you have a snowthrower, you can do the job a little faster. It's still a lot of work - but when the temperature is nose-diving towards zero following a big snow storm, you don't mind working up some warmth!
The rollerskate isn't going anywhere for a day or two.

I may have to send up a flare to get someone over to plow the drive out to the road...

It snowed all night. When I first got up, the tops of the birdfeeders looked like a rare variety of white cone-topped mushrooms. I loaded the feeders yesterday, knowing it would be needed today. Looks like I'm going to have to boot up again, the tweeties are quickly emptying all the feeders.

You may remember the picnic table from two posts back. Hey, we can do one of those games, "can you find the differences in the two pictures"!

Check for the pile of beams on that previous post, too. I might add, I didn't step outside to take these pictures. Have to get heavy socks, boots, snow pants, another sweatshirt, heavy snow coat, scarf, hat and gloves on if I want to step out the door - that's a lot of energy to expend just for two quick pictures...and we're all about energy conservations these days, right?

Ahhhh. Rats. The birds are looking VERY pitiful. Sigh. Guess I'd better start getting dressed for the snow safari. Takes about 15 minutes just to get weather-proofed. Looks like I may have snow IN my boots, it's deeper than my boots are tall!
Good thing I like tramping out through the snow....those little tweeties could get pretty hungry before spring...
We currently have three times the normal amount of snowfall for this date. And twice what we had last year. More records are falling by the day, along with the temperature. The stores carrying snow removal supplies are reporting brisk sales (ha!), even shortages in some things.
The farm is in the market for a new snowthrower, the machine over there died from overwork yesterday. So Brent had to come over to the cabin last night, to fetch the fancy model - he sort of has to be able to get out to the plowed road every morning, to make it for work - which means he's out there blowing snow around 4:30-5:00 a.m.
The bottom is dropping out of the thermometer as I write this, it's going for zero by nightfall. 10 degrees daytime temp tomorrow. But hey, it is supposed to warm all the way up to 30 by Monday, so it can snow again! The snowthrower brigade will be kept busy. That doesn't include me. My job is to take pictures!
