I usually wait until about mid-December to drag out the Christmas boxes and make things jolly and bright. But with snow falling right at Thanksgiving, and a couple of punks to tote boxes around for me, by Saturday night we were Christmas-cozy here in the cabin.
Jetta even inspected everything to make sure it met with her approval. No one knows "cozy" better than a cat...
I put bright red flannel sheets on the chairs for covers, and a navy blanket on the couch, with a wonderful old antique quilt on the back, fleece-lined throws, and fluffy flannel-covered pillows. "Cozy" and "snuggle" are the words of the day.

My winter mitten quilt (first quilt I ever made by myself) always makes the cabin feel more...well...cozy. What can I say? I love the warmth of the wood logs, the feeling of being wrapped in snuggyness (is that a word??) for the winter months to come. The reindeer is an old friend from Yelm days, he loves to be out where he can see what's going on. The basket is full of knitting and crochet projects. Just waiting for me to take the time to sit down...

I like the big beams, the thick logs, the wood staircase, the low lighting from lamps and the fire crackling in the stove. I hope this little tour has given you the feeling of how much comfort for body and spirit I enjoy here. And don't forget I have a guest room...all set up for winter comfort with fleecy blankets and heated pad!
Besides the famous farm breakfast, hot cocoa (with marshmallows), and cozy fire, we now can offer SNOWMOBILING!! Six or seven inches on the ground as of noon today, more on the way all week long. Oh, the single digit temperatures worry you? I have baskets of hats, scarves, and gloves, with heavy coats hanging on the pegs, snow pants, and extra wooly socks and boots. So don't be a wuss, come on out!

And while you're here, we'll listen to Christmas music as we bake cookies, cut and wrap caramels, make popcorn balls, and read some Christmas stories. But you'd better hurry, that's the plan for this Friday... Max and Chef Jayden have it all lined up.

It's wonderfully easy to just hang out in the cabin while the snow flies. Ask Jetta. We spent all Sunday afternoon on the couch in front of the fire, reading and snoozing.
