TIdbits (pineappple, that is)

Baby P is growing as a pineapple should - slowly. Each day, we greet him (or her, as you choose - in which case, mom claims "her" name is Hairy-ette, in honor of the fancy topknot) even before breakfast, to see what new development has sprung forth.
Now a chunky 8 inches tall, the pineapple is gathering more sunlight as it rises above the protective spikey leaves.

Most recently, the morning "hi there" from this fascinating plant has been the advent of the flower buds. Starting at the base, the little tips of violet-blue are beginning to pop out of each segment. The overall color of rosey leaf base, contrasting purple flowers and the various shades of greens, greys, russet and tan make this a striking plant. A painter's delight...

but a real tease, nevertheless. S L O W L Y is the operative adverb.
Did I mention how long it takes to grow this thing? Two years to setting a fruit. Then another six months to knife and fork day.
But we're not talking about that. Sensitive ears, ya know.
