Special visitor

It's hard to let go of a special friend. When its a girl and her horse, it can be even more wrenching. We've been through that. So when Janie called and wanted to come visit Leo, we welcomed her with gratefulness that she would take the time to check in with her old buddy and make sure he was doing well in his retirement home.
She arrived in time for evening chores, which included moving the horses to the loafing shed and night pasture area, and blanketing Leo.
Leo remembered her, crunching up the apple treat she had brought him, enjoying her special pets and scratches.

Janie was delighted to see him happy and relaxed. She said it was all she could dream for him, that he could be loved and have his own herd, ridden enough to keep his muscle tone up, but without the stresses of show preparation. She was very pleased with his level of relaxation. That's part of being able to "speak horse", as we work with Leo and Nebby to ensure good herd dynamics as mentioned in a previous post.

You can see her love and caring for Leo, her joy of connecting with a lovely animal who has personality to match his handsome face.

Girls and horses are a gift from heaven. They make you happy just watching them together. Carrie is lucky to have Leo, and Leo is very lucky to have her. We're so grateful that Janie was willing to let him go, trusting us to love and care for him in his senior years.

Janie will be back at Christmas with a present for her Leo. He particularly loves mints. The green striped Starlight mints.

Isn't it wonderful to see lives being blessed in different ways! Even Leo's (aka Freckles!)! He has found the perfect retirement spot! May we all be so lucky!
