Heirloom in the making

Do you have something from an ancestor that you cherish? An item that has special memories attatched to it? Be it a photo, a piece of jewelry, a music recording, piece of clothing - whatever it is, the sentimental value far outweighs the intrinsic.
My mother excels in embroidery. She has provided many many sets of dishtowels over the years, to the "girls" in the family - some so beautiful we hate to use them.

During my time with her this past winter, we did a lot of needlework together - a lovely memory in it's own. She made this table topper for me, during that visit. The chicken theme is so appropriate - and cute! It has a place of honor, used daily, but removed for meals if the punks are here (less laundering will keep it fresh longer!). It is still crisp from her careful pressing before we folded it to send home with me.

This is one item I have earmarked to pass on.
