Then they showed Kathy all the "forts" that have been organized the past two summers. Including the one all adults were vigorously excluded from knowledge of - even Max was sworn to secrecy, and he's still holding strong against bribes. (Which makes one wonder just what they have held over his head...we could use such a weapon at times..) I digress - again.
Then they helped with some garden harvesting. Jayden knew all about digging potatoes. Nice haul of eggplants and cucumbers. Bouquet of sunflowers, dahlias, cosmos, zinnias.
Then a snack of "coffee cake" that grandma rose from her sick-bed to bake while they were playing explorers. Can't come to grandma's without having a snack, you know. I was in danger of flunking "grandma" again...
Now what? Acckkkkk. The dreaded word loomed. Boredom. Not with THIS crew.
One of the things I truly love about being around the punks is their fertile imaginations and spontaneous creation with what's at hand.
In this case, charcoal from the firepit.
Amanda has never shirked putting her hands, fingers, mouth, or feet onto or into anything dark, dirty, grimy or otherwise disgusting to "normal" people. She has practiced this obnoxious behaviour, along with eating unknown plants and berries even when told they would "poison" her, ever since she was a toddler. Fortunately, at least for her, we have as an adult community so far been wrong. Which, unfortunately for the adult community which has to deal with her idyosycrasies, has robbed us of credibility on just about every front. Add to that being a teenager, and well, you see where we stand.
At any rate, Amanda came in smeared with her version of a gangsta beard and of course off they went to become little gangsta's. She was happy to oblige. Being up on all the "good grandma" traits, I of course encouraged them. Even sent along the photographer, since I'm still more down than up.
"Whuz up, dudes?" Happy is always where the action is, too. He is the perfect farm boys' dog.
"Sha-zaamm!"
Hmmm. Missed a spot.
"Crimenently, that tickles!!"
"Dude, you da MAN!"
For a real treat, double click on the next two photos. Enjoy the individual expressions.
And be glad it wasn't your bathroom used for the cleanup... be very glad.
And then it was off to the next adventure...there's always one waiting around the corner.
