Greetings from Washington's sister state - WISCONSIN! Well, they do both start with W... other than that, you can use your imagination. I can't help but compare, after spending the last 40 years near Olympia, Washington, in the shadow of magnificent Mt. Rainier. I always said I couldn't imagine living where I couldn't see "the mountain" as it is affectionately labeled. Which just goes to show, you gotta watch your mouth!
Wisconsin's take on mountains is a little on the skimpy side. And not to dis the rivers, but they are rather - well, pitiful - compared to the rushing clear salmon streams I was born and raised with on the Oregon coast. And one last clarification: Wisconsin may be CALLED the cheese state, but having grown up on the doorstep of the Tillamook Cheese Factory in Oregon, all I can say is, my taste buds cringe at each sample of Wisconsin's pride and joy. Just no comparison to, say, Aged White Cheddar from Tillamook, or the fabulous Bries from Blue Heron, also in Tillamook. Sorry, Wisconsin, you just don't measure up, at least to this cheese lover's demanding standards. My heart (and perfect taste) remains loyal to Tillamook County, Land of Cheese, Trees and Ocean Breeze (honest - it even says so on their logo!).
Grousing aside, I intend to extol the many virtues, facts, fictions, history, fun and games of my new home, not too far from Green Bay, Wisconsin. I'll throw in a few photos for illustration, a recipe or two, and stories from the farmhouse gang , with hopes that you will also come to enjoy this lovely area, as I share my Wisconsin Snapshots.

Hi Candy!
Great bloggin'! I'm so glad you are doing this. I have enjoyed your mailings but this is so cool to do it online! Everything looked perfect. I'm getting ready for work so I will make this short! Love ya! Kathy
Love the Blog!!! You look great on a tractor almost as good as Marlin in his Corvette! Snow endless snow better you than me. Oh I visited Jennifer in New Hampshire and looked for good cheese. Vermont, Wisconsin yuk!!! I agree with you I love Tillamook. Just a side note I called the girls and looked all over and can not find the cookbook. I do not know what happened to it. Bev Malan may have it cuz you made it at camp so I put in a call. Love you Lisa
Candy,
I really like your blog. What a great way of keeping in touch. We made the caramel recipe. It tasted great, just a little soft. Thank you for the recipe. The weather here in Washington is rainy and I can't wait for spring. I am trying my hand at making a terrarium. Hope it helps my need to dig in dirt. Glad you and your family are doing well. Take care.
Karen
Candy,
Wow you on a snowmobile! I hope I can be as involved with new things when I hit 60ish in just a few years. Are you still going to AZ to see Kathy? I didn't know Kathy had moved. If you go to AZ I want to come over and see you both. I'm thinking a long weekend in AZ. What do you think?
Love ya'
